Window Treatment FAQs for the Gulf Coast
Who owns Window Decor & More?
Window Decor & More is locally owned and operated by Mark and Emily McDonald, a husband-and-wife team based in Orange Beach, Alabama. They have served Gulf Coast homeowners, condominium owners, businesses, builders and designers since 2006. They are proud Navy supporters—Go Navy, Beat Army!
Is Window Decor & More reputable?
Yes. Window Decor & More is an established Orange Beach window-treatment company that has operated from the same showroom at 25595 Canal Road since 2006. That two-decade, continuous local presence gives customers a real business they can visit before, during and after a project—and a level of continuity that sets us apart from newer competitors across Baldwin County. Our experienced local team provides knowledgeable guidance, careful measuring, dependable communication, professional installation and after-sale support. Our public Google Business Profile currently shows a 4.9-star rating with more than 80 reviews.
What areas does Window Decor & More serve?
Our core service area includes Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, Foley, Bon Secour, Elberta, Perdido Key, Fairhope and nearby Gulf Coast communities in Alabama and northwest Florida. Visit our Orange Beach showroom or schedule an in-home consultation to confirm service for your property.
How well do exterior shades work?
Exterior shades work very well for patios, porches, balconies and other covered outdoor spaces when the system is selected and installed for the opening. They can reduce direct sun, heat and glare, add daytime privacy and help limit flying insects while preserving outward visibility. Performance depends on the mesh, opening, mounting conditions and wind exposure. We measure the space, recommend the appropriate system and explain safe operating limits; exterior shades should be retracted during severe weather unless the manufacturer specifically rates the product for those conditions.
Is Window Decor & More a full-service window treatment store?
Yes. Window Decor & More manages the project from start to finish: consultation, design guidance, product selection, precise measuring, ordering, installation and after-sale support. Our team works with custom blinds, shades, shutters, draperies, woven shades, motorized treatments, smart-home controls and exterior shades, so customers can coordinate the entire project with one local company.
What types of window treatments do you offer?
We offer custom blinds, shades, shutters, draperies, woven shades, motorized treatments, smart-home automation and exterior shades. Each solution is selected for the room, window dimensions, style, privacy, light control and budget.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. We provide free in-home or contactless consultations across our service area. You can also visit our showroom at 25595 Canal Road, Suite A, Orange Beach, Alabama 36561. Our design team will help you compare materials, colors, operating systems and product options for your space. Request a consultation.
Do you offer Hunter Douglas window treatments?
Yes. Window Decor & More offers premium Hunter Douglas window treatments as a complete service—not a product-only sale. Our team helps select the appropriate blinds, shades, shutters or motorized options, then handles measuring, ordering, professional installation, setup and after-sale support.
What are the benefits of motorized shades and smart-home automation?
Motorized shades add convenience and make hard-to-reach windows easier to operate. Depending on the selected system, treatments can be controlled by remote, wall control, smartphone, schedule, scene or compatible voice assistant. Automation can also support privacy, glare control and more consistent use throughout the day.
Can you match my decor or paint colors?
Yes. We bring or show samples of fabrics, colors, wood tones, stains, finishes and hardware so you can compare options with your flooring, furnishings, wall colors and natural light. Because every treatment is custom, we can coordinate the look with both the room and the window.
How long will my order take?
Many custom products arrive in approximately four to six weeks after the order is finalized. Timing varies by product, manufacturer, specialty shape, material availability and shipping conditions. We provide the current expected lead time during ordering and schedule professional installation after the products arrive and are checked.
Where exactly is the showroom?
25595 Canal Road, Suite A, in Orange Beach. You are welcome to visit during business hours, or call first so we can make sure we are not out on a measurement visit.
Do I have to buy from the showroom to work with you?
No. Plenty of clients start with an in-home consultation and never visit. The showroom exists for people who would rather see and touch the options before committing.
Can you match a treatment that is already in the unit?
Often yes. Bring a photograph and any product name you can find on the old treatment and we will look for the closest current match.
Does motorization work in a condo?
Wall switches, remotes and phone control all work, and most installs need no structural change. We check power access before we specify anything.
How far ahead should I book before the season?
Earlier is better. Production and installation slots fill first around the busy rental and holiday periods, so the further ahead you plan, the more choice you have.
